The Process

When the time has come to say goodbye to your pet, this will give you a quick guide through the process so that the moment can be calm and peaceful without any unnecessary worries. If you have any questions or specific wishes you would like carried out then please do not hesitate to ask as we will do our best to accommodate them.
Get in touch
The first part of the process is you getting in touch. We have several different contact methods (email, call, what's app, text) and we will then contact you to discuss further. During the discussions we will take details about your pet, any wishes you have, what you would like to happen after etc. If you wish to continue with a visit we will then aim to book you a home appointment at a time that suits yourselves and family. Even if you feel that the time is not yet right to say goodbye to your pet, we welcome all queries or questions you may have and are happy to discuss your pets symptoms or concerns if you're unsure if the time is right.
Visit
When you have decided to book a visit, we will then come to your home. We will discuss and confirm your options again at your home and ask you to sign a form to consent to the euthanasia. When you feel you are ready, we begin by giving your pet a sedative injection. Once the sedative has been administered we will then step outside to give you some time privately to say goodbye to your pet peacefully as well as allowing time for the sedative to work. There is no rush and as many people/pets as you want can be present. Once the sedative has taken effect, and only when you are ready, they will then receive a second injection, allowing your pet to pass peacefully. Please note this whole process is not in any way painful or stressful for you pet. Following this, if you have chosen to have us arrange your cremation, we can then give you further time to say goodbye to your pet before leaving.

Afterwards
Prior to our visit, we would have already discussed your wishes for afterwards with yourselves and confirmed on the consent form. You can either keep your pet at home for burial or we can take your pet for individual cremation. We offer all families complimentary paw print and or fur clipping keepsakes as part of our service. If you do decide to have your pet cremated and would like the ashes returned, we will aim to return the ashes to you within 2 weeks.
Bereavement Support Service
We are very proud to be able to offer our clients additional bereavement support to our clients following the loss of a pet. Gem has completed her Blue Cross training and is now a fully accredited pet loss support advisor. This means our clients will be able to book in a session with her (via online, telephone call or what's app) should they feel that they are struggling with the decision to put their pet to sleep or the loss of their pet. These sessions are completely free and confidential and will give clients the chance to discuss their struggles. Please get in touch for further information but bear in mind this is support service only and not counselling.
